AMITA Health Welcomes New Executive VP and Chief Clinical Officer

Dec. 6, 2021 (Chicago, Ill.) — Officials at AMITA Health are pleased to welcome Dr. Richard Scott to the system’s executive leadership team in the role of executive vice president and chief clinical officer.

Richard Scott, MDDr. Scott, a veteran healthcare executive and physician leader, started with AMITA Health on Monday, November 29, 2021. In his new role, he will be the system’s clinical lead, responsible for overseeing the clinical and operational performance across the system’s continuum of care, including clinical performance improvement and the development and growth of systems of care. Among his duties will be championing AMITA Health’s quality and safety efforts and ensuring implementation of clinically reliable process standards.

Dr. Scott comes to AMITA Health with more than 16 years of healthcare leadership experience, having served most recently as chief clinical officer, acute care, for the Midlands Market of Prisma Health, the largest healthcare system in South Carolina. Prior to that, he worked as chief medical officer for the New Jersey Department of Health’s COVID-19 Response Field Medical Site in Atlantic City.

Dr. Scott earned his medical degree from the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and completed his internship and residency in orthopedic surgery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, also in Philadelphia. He completed his MBA at the Isenberg School of Management and the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, Mass.

He is a Certified Physician Executive (CPE) through the American Association for Physician Leadership and is a licensed physician and surgeon in Illinois, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Among his professional affiliations:
