As some states see double-digit hikes, uncertainty remains over Illinois Obamacare premiums

Illinois residents who buy health insurance on the state’s Obamacare exchange are unlikely to find out until later this summer how much more they might pay in 2019, but consumers in some other states are facing double-digit increases. Premiums are set to increase by an average of 15 percent for silver-level plans in 10 states and the District of Columbia where proposed rates have been publicly released, according to consulting firm Avalere. Costs will likely go up in all but one of those states, Minnesota, where rates are set to decline by 5 percent for an average silver plan. In Maryland, rates are projected to climb by 53 percent for an average silver plan.
