The Cook County Board Finance Committee will meet at 10 a.m. Oct. 10 to consider repeal of the Cook County penny-an-ounce tax on sugar- and artificially sweetened beverages. It would take nine votes to repeal the tax. If County Board President Toni Preckwinkle were to veto the repeal, it would take 11 commissioners to override her.
